Lets Dispel a few Myths: Garlic is safe for dogs.
It contains significantly less thiosulfate as the onion family, which is considered unsafe for dogs.
Onions contain 15 times more and may cause something which is called Heinz body anaemia. This causes red blood cells to break down at an increased rate.
Dosage guidelines are listed below.
Dogs 45 kilos + 2.5 cloves
Dogs 34 -45 kilos 2 cloves
Dogs 20 - 34 kilos 1.5 cloves
Dogs 9 - 18 kilos 1 clove
Dogs 4.5 - 7 kilos 1/2 clove
* safe intake for cats at 17mg/kg of body weight (The National research Council)
